Heather Cassity brings 25 years of operational and management experience.

Before starting her own company, Heather Cassity successfully led the top charity in Anne Arundel County, The Light House Homeless Prevention Support Center.  


First serving as Deputy Director and then Executive Director, Heather transformed the organization by concentrating on process management, talent retention, and community engagement. Her changes reduced expenses and diversified and increased revenue, allowing The Light House to dramatically increase the number of people served.


Heather began her nonprofit journey working in prospect research and fundraising for higher education. 


  Heather served her country in the United States Navy as a Russian linguist and instructor.In her free time, Heather enjoys painting, cooking, writing and spending time with family.

As an active member of the Nonprofit Leadership Lab and Maryland Nonprofits, she is deeply engaged in best practices, advocacy, and strategic innovations that drive meaningful impact. 


She holds a Nonprofit Management Certificate from Loyola University, equipping her with the knowledge and expertise to navigate the complexities of nonprofit leadership. 


Further demonstrating her dedication to excellence, she is currently pursuing her PMP Certification, reinforcing her ability to lead projects with precision, efficiency, and strategic vision. Heather’s unwavering pursuit of knowledge underscores her passion for empowering organizations to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape.

  • Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, renovations, and space planning for 5 properties, including 11 permanent supportive housing units. 
  • A solid foundation in Social Enterprise, successfully focused on expanding workforce programming to provide meaningful employment opportunities for the community. This includes initiatives aimed at paying a living wage and creating additional job openings, showcasing our dedication to fostering economic growth and sustainability. 
  • As a pivotal achievement, formulated a comprehensive strategy and established guidelines to ensure consistent reporting and analysis for CRM systems.  These initiatives not only optimized operational efficiency but also significantly enhanced the ability to cultivate and sustain meaningful relationships with clients and donors, marking a significant milestone in our organizational growth and impact. 
  • Played a crucial role in various software development and integration initiatives, gaining expertise across platforms like Salesforce, Social Solutions Apricot, Raiser's Edge NXT, and the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). 
  • Additionally, orchestrated the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a highly effective community engagement plans for prospect management tailored for fundraising, volunteer recruitment and donor engagement. 
  • Developed, wrote, piloted, and instructed a course for U.S. Navy language analysts at Fort Meade. Course was adopted by Naval Training Command Pensacola Florida to be implemented for all language analysts. Awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Joint Service Commendation Medal.
